17th Anniversary of 9-11...
On the 17th Anniversary of 9-11, we continue prayers for a path to peace. (Picture above - TishTrek and husband Harry @ the podium inside the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City). It was the privilege of a lifetime for us to be with leaders from around the world on a night when honoring excellence in writing and reporting was the common language uniting all of us. As one of the proud sponsors of the Annual U.N. Correspondents' Dinner, we enjoyed honoring excellence in writing and communications by helping to fund scholarships for international university students who had the courage & talent to tackle some of the difficult issues of our time. Through their magnificent words, they successfully created content that helped readers see through the lens of their research & life experiences. These students inspired all of us. I have confidence the next generation will pick up where we leave off.

It's Christmas: May God Help Our Children in South Chicago

I never imagined that my generation would take our nation back to the dark places New Jersey lived during the 1960's & '70s. It's 45 years later and many of those neighborhoods have never recovered. 4.5 decades worth of kids in neighborhoods across Newark, Camden, & Paterson NJ never had a chance or the opportunity to see a change in their environment that would help because no leader, no politician, not a single person ever had answers that could trump politics long enough to influence change for the good of all. God help the children trapped in the cross-fire in South Chicago between Christmas & New Years. I'm so sorry no one is marching & protesting for you... - Amen. ~ Tish

A Somber Salute to the NYPD & Veteran Police Officers Wen Jian Lui & Rafael Ramos

Today I honor the NYPD and the common language it speaks worldwide. In 1993, you rushed us to safety and guided us to the light of day when terrorists blew a 10-story gaping hole in 'our' World Trade Center; on 9/11 we wept with you for the brothers and sisters in law enforcement who gave all so others could live. It was the strength of your silhouette and your shield that inspired us to difiantly return to our broken city so we could help her heal. Thanks to you, fear was no match for our resilence. It is the NYPD - heroes like veteran police officers Wen Jian Lui and Rafael Ramos - who eloquently usher in calm through courageous acts and deeds. May they rest in peace. ~ Amen With Deepest respect & sympathy, Tish
